About This Training
This advanced training is for organizers and leaders with at least 18 months of work on childcare campaigns. Participants are trained on the fundamental skills of organizing: identifying self-interest, building powerful public relationships, enrolling leaders to take public risks and build followings, ordering relationships with teams and leadership structures, and building and executing three to six month organizing plans. While new organizers receive many skills-based trainings, all of these trainings are rooted in provoking a deeper engagement with the personal leadership that is required to powerfully put these skills to use.
Childcare Advanced Leaders Training
This mid-level training training builds on previous organizing trainings and the organizing plans that organizers are executing on their childcare campaigns. With insight from their team leader, this training digs in with organizers and leaders about what they learned, where they struggled, and whether and how they developed a base. The training creates space to wrestle with common challenges for organizers, including creating high responsibility invitations for grassroots leaders to grow, the craft of creating tension with leaders rooted in their mission, and self-interest. Training segments include propositions, building powerful leadership teams, developing political imagination, developing a six-month organizing plan/program, and creating the leadership structures necessary to move leaders through this plan. Childcare Advanced Leaders Training ends with organizers sharing their plans and practicing enrolling the room in their organizing plan and why it matters.
Who should go to this training series:
- Organizers and leaders with one to two years of experience who have not gone through a rigorous curriculum who have completed entry level organizing training
